We've had some negative feedback on our Articles page and accessing articles. When clients visit the articles section of our website (which we link to regularly in emails, social media and other communications), there are "hidden" articles that can only be seen by clicking the "+" icon. Once that list of articles appears, viewers have more choices to read. If someone reads an article, and then goes back to the full articles page, all the expansion has disappeared... so the user has to start over in finding the article he or she was looking at. Perhaps there was another article above or below they wanted to read - now it's a hassle to find it again. This is especially problematic on mobile devices where you have to scroll an extended length to get through different sections (our Articles page has seven different categories with 15-20 articles in each). I think it would be better to have the articles open in a new tab/window so the user just closes that window when done, and goes back to the page where the articles are listed. If there was something eye-catching where they just were, they are right back to it. Much less issue in getting around. Even a search option on the page would be nice (to find all articles on Social Security, estate planning, etc.) Main point - if the article sections need expanded, then the individual article should open in a new tab/window. The user can then go back to where they were when done.
